Directory site, where’s the url field?
One more problem August 4th, 2007Saturday is Blog Reading Day.
I look at more than 50 Nepali blogs each Saturday and I did it today also. I just go the the Bloggers.com.np, and click on all blogs from top until I got bored. Bloggers.com.np is definitely a great website. The webmaster have done wonderful job for the Nepali blogger and blog readers. I would like to congratulate her for doing such a wonderful work. While very few webmasters in Nepal are intrested on web directories, this has become a good resource than a webmaster thing. May be Nepali website market is not much involved into SEO, the webmasters are not aware about the importance of web directories. I have seen only one Nepali webdirectory, thats Websites.com.np.
Each time I look at Bloggers.com.np, I like to laugh seeing at the submit site form. See the Screenshot below. Where is the URL field? Common, Its a web directory and to submit a site in a directory user should enter the URL.
I would not be so amazed if the site is operated by non-pro. But the site belongs to the quite popular, award winning webmaster who claims that she have made more than 300 websites. No offense Archana, but its not a mistake what professionals do.
Look at the fields on the submit form. Neither “Name” nor “Title” means “URL”? Both of them are same I think. Name and Title are same.

Oh yes its funny .. i did notice it but didn’t make it a point to suggest the webmaster of this directory site . I just thought the site was new when i submitted my URL and just hoped it as a small mistake and they would eventually find it and fix it. After i submitted my URL i never went to check if they have changed the submit form but after reading ur post it shows they haven’t changed it.
I think when i submitted i put my URL in blog name … Not a job a good webmaster for sure.. this could be pointed out by any common-sense internet user but why it was neglected by the person who designed this page….

Seems like a blunder mistake with the confusion of “Name” and “URL” over here. This might be due to the lack of good English skills of the webmaster. Then again, for a web directory there are lots of default templates from where the webmaster can generate ideas for his/her directory. I suggest they immediately change the Name to URL or may be choose another type of form to eliminate the confusion.

LOL, the URL is the most important part of the form too. It’s an obvious mistake, so you should email them about it, so that they can fix it.

This is very interesting lol. I find it quite ironic that such a renowned directory would have made such a blunder. I think that it’s probably an error in translation, though; Name and Title must mean different things in Nepalese.
I tried connecting to their site and got “Can’t connect to local MySQL server through socket ‘/tmp/mysql.sock’ (2)”; perhaps they are working on it right now

Actually, this kind of things are minor for Nepalese IT profession.
Its we that know what is right and wrong. You know what cocaine? All the old age people doesn’t carries a brain, only some.
But the generation change is coming on the track, leave the site be like that, lets see when they will fix that. But we the younger gen, should never repeat all these things.
About my experience, http://www.blogger.com.np is also another site which is fucking sleeping till date, with the banner of under construction.
I think you should remember, domains in bad hand.
Once make a search in google with keyword ” blogger.com.np” you will see my article over there. the fucking article to blogger.com.np.
Peace…!!

I am confused that where should I enter the url. i never seen these kind of site submission. Is this a new way to submit sites? Where keyword automatically find the site url. If it is then it’s new revolution in web. Congrats.

This is really funny!
Most probably it looks like a mistake, but as this post says, this mistake is not easily justifiable in this case; being a professional web solution provider, as you say yourself, you sudn’t have made this mistake
Anyway, better late than never – correct it Archana!
