High Definition Radio!
Uncategorized December 1st, 2007Wow, I never knew about this thing before. High Definition TV is ok, but this is new, at least for me. May be its already popular in States. I came across the HD Digital Radio website and found that really very interesting thing. This is only available in United States now.
HD Radio is a new significant technology on radio broadcasting. Radio stations(AM and FM) can broadcast their programs digitally using HD Digital Radio service. This is a huge technological leap from the analog broadcasts of radio stations in the past. Listeners need to have HD radio receiver, but they don’t need to pay subscription fee or any kind of other charges. Users can for free a lot of channels. Hence lots of free music, news, sports etc. More new music formats. Since its digital, the radio stations also send the textual data and you can see the track name, singer name etc in the screen of your receiver. One more interesting thing about this is iTunes tagging. You can tag the song playing on your player which some of the receivers and later easily download that from iTunes. Polk i-Sonic ES2 is one of such receivers.
