It’s true, Puerto Rico has been a dependant territory of the United States since 1917. I pronounce it like this (sound out the words as they look, phonetically! ) Pwair-Toe Ree-Coh. But some people pronounce it like this: Pear-Toe Ree-Coh.
And do not feel bad you didn’t know it existed. I’m sure you could mention a few I’ve never heard of!
