I never thought that Prashant Tamang will be the next Indian Idol. He is an average singer where Amit Paul is outstanding. I’ve started to see the show since last 3 weeks so I don’t know how Amit Paul sang in earlier episodes but he’ve done very few mistakes since I’ve started to see this show. Amit can sing any song very easily. Amit Paul sings like professional singers where Prashant Tamang sings like he is just learning. He just sings straight, he can not turn when needed. I don’t know how to describe it, I just know that he can not sing like Amit paul. But I again repeat Prashant would not win the Indian Idol title even if he was better than Amit because of his ethnicity. Many People think Prashant is a Nepali so Indians will never make “nepalese” Indian Idol. And I somehow agree.
I can not vote in Indian Idol from here. I would vote Amit Paul for sure if we have access to vote in Indian Idol. But my friends think that I should vote Prashant anyway. They do not like Indians in any sector. I do not hate Indians like that but thats true Nepalese have been exploited by Indian people and Government since very long time. I saw many comments by the Indians in this post saying they like Nepal, they’ve always think good about Nepal. I agree there might be some people who likes Nepal. Even I like India while all of my friends hate India. But go see the history , you will know why people hate India. A lot of reports from NGO’s and INGO’s shows the massive involvements various Indian groups and people in the current Terai Problem. Recently some 20 people killed in a massacre in Kapilvastu. UNESCO’s report shows that more than 100 people came from India with arms and involved into the incident. You might not know more than 10 people are already killed and hundreds of businessmen have been blackmailed by the Indian Criminals groups in Birgunj. And did you know the recent Susta border issue? may be not. Indian government has seized more than one kilometer of the lands from the border which belongs to Nepal and placed troops there. Each years thousands of people should leave their house and hundreds of people die because of the submerge caused by dam made by Indian Government in border side.
I know Indian Idol is a musical show and it should help on uniting people rather than hating each other. People should not bring these issues to the show but it really matters. Nepalese are weaker than Indians so they can not fight to India to get their land in Susta back. They can not fight against the Criminals from India to protect themselves nor they can go and distroy the dam made my India. So, they bring these stuffs in these kind of things. Like in Indian Idol, Cricket match. I have a friend named Sundar, he is always against India whenever they are playing cricket. No matter India is playing with Australia or Bangladesh. This is not because India plays bad, this is because he does not like India. And thats the only one way they can show their anger against India. I do not have any hard feeling against India like that but Its shame to India how they’re exploiting a small country like Nepal.

24|Sep|2007 1Hi there,
All of us have our own opinion and choice. Be it Amit or Prashant, I personally think they are both good singers with different tone of voice quality. But Prashant deserved to win because he did better in the final rounds. He sang the original song better too. At a stage like the finals, the contestant shouldn’t be holding lyrics in their hands but Amit did that & he was even looking at the lyrics a few times when singing the original number. Prashant was superb in singing & performance in the Grand Finale. So give it to him. Best man win afterall. Good luck to the both of them in their future endeavours.

24|Sep|2007 2What nepal thinks about India is nothing but symptoms of “Big brother” syndrome. Just because India is powerful and big and has growing influence in world, does not make it a villain. Agreed that there could be some problems but to say that Nepal is a eternal good guy and India is bad is preposterous if not funny. Instead of Indians invading Nepal and murdering people there , it is Nepal’s own internal chaos, political instability that have lead to more bloodbath.
Do you know how much financial assistance India provides to Nepal and what about Trade? And free border? And do you know how many nepalis work in India and earn their livelihood? Do you call it exploitation? A nepali can become indian idol, a nepali can become top actress in India.
Think about it? Do you really think that Indians have Nepal on thier mind when they are on cusp of a super power?
India is hated in Nepal perhaps since it gives you guys a villain and that unites you. I remember stupid reaction in Nepal few years back when Hritik Roshan (poor chap) was quoted to have said something against Nepal and entire Nepal was on rioting , as if Roshan was really so important that his view on Nepal mattered to you so much! The fact was that poor chap had said nothing and an entire country had boiled over… This my friend is the problem…the problem in mind and perceptions. The inferiority complex born out of perception of being small… which resides in mind…and when that happens passion rules over facts and figures.

24|Sep|2007 3Well Gaurav, I agree nepal have its own internal chaos, political instability but few individual groups from India is helping to to make the chaos more bigger. Its not all the Nepalese who hates Indian and think bad like that, its minority of the uneducated people(they were the same group reacting in the hritik roshan issue) who only see the bad part, but eveyone can see that India ins invading Nepal physically and socially.
And what the hell financial assistance? Giving financial assistance to a poor country doesn’t mean they can invade. And yes many Nepalese are working on India, but what about Indians working on Nepal? There are a lot of the Indians in the leading industry of Nepal. And what about all the Motiharians who sells pani puri in the street of Nepal? You can not say India is giving work for Nepalese in return of invading.

24|Sep|2007 4I have no facts to speak about, but I canbeleive what you say about India. Very possible, considering that those in power in India manage to s*** their ‘own kinds’ why would they not being doing to people in another country if they can - especially when there is no one eager to turn and see. The only hope is that the number of people in India itself, hurt by the people who run the country, are a majority. If we realised that instead of getting at each other we could all unite and change the nation. Hopefully, our much mentioned road to becoming a powerful nation would lead to progress for all and not just a few. For that, an attitude of benevolence and respect for all is essential. Hope we get there. As for Nepal and Nepalis attitudes I have no clue whats running in their minds - if they hate us or not. For genuine reasons or not. I only know them from the army and I really respect them in that regard.

24|Sep|2007 5Hi Mr.x,
well i dont know how to start but still i should.should i get more violent or rather cool, after going through your short note of “INDIAN IDOL”..its a big thing for the people of darjeeling to achieve such a big succes.[excluding some].Prashant a simple guy from a simple family comes from darjeeling, composing of ‘dorje’ meaning’thunderbolt’,'ling’ meaning place,”the land of thenderbolt”.so my dear friend, did really prashant strike u as a thunberbolt.
by the way Mr.gaurav, prashant is an indian nepali so dont think that india did a very big favour by allowing him to become an indian idol.please get your facts correct, you say as if all nepalese living in the hills have come from nepal and that india is doing a big favour by letting them stay out here.
india being a super power without the integral support of all its citizens will only remain a dream if comments like yours are encouraged.
about our neighbour, nepal, having its internal problems please dont forget that india by itself went through these problems before achieving complete democracy,so we are no different than our neighbour.
india is never hated in nepal, have u ever been to nepal….cant u see the indians all over the place.you will only realise when u come to the act.and hay,ur poor chap said something against nepal in nepal itself,so it is obvious that people get violated.wouldnt u get violated if someone comes to ur house and points on you.and please we dont have any inferiority complex of being small.its just your assumption.hope u repeat after me a simple line”JAI PRASHANT,JAI GORKHA”..

25|Sep|2007 6I am following after Trang. I have to tell you that while we were voting for Prashant so many times during the finals, we didn’t dig out his history. All we saw was that he has a very soft and good voice. He is a real person. He has everything an Idol should have. I have been to UK for few days. It was a strange time in my life. I am saying so because we (India and UK) share so much of history. But I have to tell you that whenever I met some people from Pakistan, Bangladesh in UK, I felt as if I have met my brother, my own country resident. We do not realize this that being neighbors we both depend on each other. We have some issues, which need attention but that doesn’t mean we have to hate each other. Believe me, some rascals go to Nepal and create disturbance. And yes the ‘dam’ problem! Haven’t you seen what Indian government has been doing to Indian people? In Gujarat poor people did all sorts of protests to protect their land from being taken away from them for dam constructions, but Indian government didn’t give a damn about it. They did what they had to do. So, what happened to you was not because you are Nepalese. Governments behave in bad ways sometimes.
So, Nepalese people should not hate Indians because Indian government has been inconsiderate in some issue. Indian people are so much like you. 99 percent of the Indians will not even want bad things happening to you all. But in the end, all that I may suggest you all is that only young Nepalese can bring change in their own life. No one can help you change Nepal. Don’t waste time blaming others, Nepal belongs to you and ‘its’ problems are yours.
Anyway, it was very nice to see such nice and dynamic people discussing something meaningful here. Great going guys!

29|Apr|2008 7why india is hated in nepal..
i will try to come up with some logical reasons if you dont like them contradict them logically..
1.indian government keeps nepal as a buffer state as a wall against china it does not want nepal to develop by keeping it overly dependent on tself.
2.indian bollywood has created the image of a nepali person means watchman(bahadur) sort of mentality..it should be stopped.
because of that
when indians enter in nepal from borders like bihar …they get into professions like selling bhel puri..and picking up khali sisi botal..so people of nepal who have never been to india see them as indians and have also nick named them as “dhotis”.
3.indians in a huge number have become nepali citizens…
but i dont have any problem with that bcoz they are sustaining our economy…also many nepalis have become indian citizens also there is some short of jealousy in minds of people as all the wealth is owned by people of indian origin
but the problem is the huge bihari population that have named themselves madhesis will become a majority in nepal and nepalese will become minorities..
4.due to open border indian criminals take recide under nepal..they indulge in kidnepping nepalese.woman trafficking from our country takes place in high ratios to india..
5.when you talk about gorkhaland (darjeeling) it was an area of nepal before the sugauli treaty..and the population is etnically nepalese..i appreciate that they have developed more under indian govt bt if indians have taken our area they should also regard the people as its own citizens and duch topic should never come which have potential to take people on a cultural hate ride..
long live indian gorkhali
5india gives some facilities to nepal..and many other things and consider it its blessings whereas it is the right of the poor landlocked country..
finally guys lets give and take respect..
i hope the indian government dont encroach on the right on nepalese people
jai nepal ! jai hind.
personally i dont hate indians !
but i have sympathy towards the people here..
i come from a rajput family and i know my origins..but the land that gives me identity i cant see its plight..
i hope u all understand
